Growing up, the highlight of my year was always the adventures we embarked on during our annual family vacation. My mom, dad, brother, and I would pack up our trusty Ford Fiesta and set off from Cincinnati, Ohio, for the 17-hour journey to Walt Disney World. My mom, ever the planner, would pack a bag of car games to keep us entertained. As a teenager, I discovered the magic of falling asleep and waking up at our destination—a small miracle that made the long trip seem shorter.
One summer, my brother’s high school graduation marked a special occasion, and my parents decided to go all out. We embarked on a “best of the best” vacation, starting in Williamsburg, Virginia, exploring the Okefenokee Swamp, discovering the historical wonders of Saint Augustine, and ending with a grand finale week at Walt Disney World. We fondly called it our “Last Annual Vacation.”

That trip was so unforgettable that it sparked a new tradition. The “Last Annual Vacation” became the “Annual Last Family Vacation,” a cherished ritual we repeated year after year.
Now, as a parent myself, I strive to create those same magical experiences for my own children. Each year, we embark on a special journey together. These trips are my way of focusing solely on being a mom. I put away the computer, step back from work, and ignore the never-ending chores at home. My focus shifts entirely to my family, savoring every moment spent with my children and my husband.
Every year, we choose a new destination, balancing the thrill of discovering new places with revisiting our favorites. With three children, each with their own dreams of adventure, it can be challenging to find a destination that excites us all. Yet, we always manage to choose a place that offers a balance of value, excellent customer service, adventure, and the opportunity for both exploration and relaxation.

I’ve been fortunate to travel the world, and I cherish the chance to share these experiences with my family. Traveling teaches my children lessons that extend far beyond the classroom. They learn about tolerance, cultural differences, and the privilege of being able to explore new places. These experiences shape them into well-rounded individuals, and I believe they are better for it.
Whether you can travel frequently or need to save for years to make your dream destination a reality, I believe in the importance of going. The memories you create, the lessons you learn, and the bonds you strengthen are priceless.
I like to believe that I have instilled in my children the same sense of adventure that my parents instilled in me. Each journey we take together is a tribute to that legacy, a testament to the enduring power of family vacations.
