When I first booked our mother-son getaway aboard the brand-new Disney Treasure, I knew we were in for something special—but I had no idea just how magical it would be. From the moment we stepped aboard, we were transported into a world where every corner sparkled with Disney magic and every moment felt like an unforgettable memory in the making.
Let’s start with the ship itself: breathtaking. The Disney Treasure is the perfect blend of elegance and enchantment. From the grand, golden atrium featuring a stunning Aladdin-themed statue to the immersive dining experiences and jaw-dropping entertainment, this ship is a showstopper. For those traveling with tweens, like my son, it strikes that perfect balance—still filled with Disney whimsy, but with plenty of cool and adventurous activities that don’t feel too young. The Hero Zone with its action-packed challenges, the interactive Star Wars: Cargo Bay, and the Marvel Super Hero Academy were huge hits for my son. And yes—I may have gotten roped into a lightsaber duel. No regrets.
One unexpected treat? Our itinerary to the Eastern Caribbean included an extra sea day, which meant more Disney Cruise Line fun and more relaxation. We spent it exactly how you’d want to—lounging by the pool, eating endless soft-serve ice cream, catching a Broadway-style show, and watching the sun dip below the horizon from our veranda. Pure bliss.

Our Adventures in Paradise
Our first port of call was Tortola, where we hopped on a boat bound for Jost Van Dyke. Let me just say: turquoise waters and powdery white sand don’t do it justice. This was island perfection. We sipped tropical drinks from a laid-back local bar, where the friendly staff made us feel right at home. My son was in heaven splashing in the warm sea while I got some much-needed beachside chill time.
Next up was San Juan, Puerto Rico. We explored the colorful old town before heading to the Maritime Park, where we snorkeled with sea turtles. Watching my son swim alongside these gentle creatures was one of those mom moments I’ll remember forever—his eyes wide with wonder, his laughter bubbling up through his snorkel.
Our final stop was Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay—a slice of heaven reserved just for Disney Cruise guests. We snorkeled the famous reef and discovered hidden statues beneath the waves (including Mickey, of course!), then held on tight for a thrilling banana boat ride across crystal-clear waters. The squeals of laughter? Worth every salty splash.
More Than Just a Vacation
As amazing as the ship and the ports were, my favorite part of the trip wasn’t any one excursion or onboard attraction. It was the quality time with my son. In the rhythm of our daily lives, it’s easy to get swept up in school schedules, work, and endless to-do lists. But on the Disney Treasure, we slowed down. We reconnected. We laughed, talked, and shared experiences that will be part of our story forever.
If you’re looking for a vacation that offers adventure, magic, and meaningful connection, the Disney Treasure is your ship. For tweens, it’s the perfect mix of independence and fun. For moms? It’s a reminder of just how special one-on-one time with your child can be.
Until our next adventure, we’ll be dreaming of that extra sea day, soft sand between our toes, and a week full of Disney magic. ✨
